Wow, has it been over two weeks since I last posted? This must be rectified. With the move to the new neighbourhood, I suppose, I’ve been spending more time exploring in the evenings. I’ve also been doing more capoeira – and, in the last week, cycling!
The velo revolution
I cannot emphasize enough how much of a positive effect being able to cycle has on me. It’s like the whole world is mine again. I can go anywhere, and stop and go as I please. If something catches my eye on my way from A to B, I can check it out. I don’t have to check a transit schedule or map. Or pay for a taxi. Traffic melts away.
Yes, some people think I’m crazy. Me, I think it’s no harder than getting down Queen West during rush hour. And here, at least, there are clear gaps along the way, and most streets are one-way.
Plus, it’s a mighty handsome set o’ wheels…
An update on work
I can’t report on the details, but things are going much better than I could have anticipated. What started as a project to refresh the website and the printed materials has grown into a project of major responsibility and greater importance to the company. Yesterday, I was sent to have a solo meeting with one of their major clients, which is a large multinational IT company.
I also found out yesterday that I’m getting sent to our company’s other offices in the province of San Juan next week to take some photos and gain a better sense of the company. Going to make a side-trip to Valle de la Luna (Wikipedia, photos) as well!
It’s much, much more than I expected, and I am frequently awed by the graciousness of my colleagues and the trust they place in me. I couldn’t have asked for more.
